AUGUST 2009 OWNER SPOTLIGHT
![]()
We at CMR are proud to announce that our owner, Dr. Cris Mandry, is leaving on his third tour of duty to Afghanistan. In July, the Baton Rouge Advocate did a spotlight story on our personal hero. An excerpt from the article reads: "Although his primary job is as director of the Department of Emergency Medicine at the LSU Earl K. Long Medical Center, Mandry's military role is as a lieutenant colonel in Special Forces. If that seems remarkable, consider this: Mandry, 57, also is a member of the New Orleans Police Department SWAT team, and was one of the first officers rescuing flood-trapped residents following Hurricane Katrina." The full story can be viewed online here All of us at CMR are so proud to work with such an extraordinary American. Please join us in keeping Dr. Mandry and all of our soldiers in your prayers while they are away.
How do you find an Emergency Department record that is right for you and your department's needs? First, start with searching for an electronic record that is specific to the ED and not part of an enterprise solution. Technology today affords Emergency Departments the opportunity to integrate with enterprise systems so the entire hospital and patient information can flow seamlessly. The American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) and the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) hold multiple conferences each year that allows vendors to exhibit their most recent advances in electronic records for your Emergency Department. Prior to attending a conference, do your research and have questions available and a list of functionalities you would like to see during a live demonstration at the booth. Additional suggestions would be to meet with staff, administration, etc. to form a complete list of items that would meet the specific needs for your ED. If you need additional information about electronic health records, please give us a call. Our technology specialists, as well as our Emergency Department physicians and nurses, are always available at CMR and would be happy to help with any questions you or your staff may have.
TIP OF THE MONTH Physicians have the ability to create their own within normal limit (WNL) physical exam findings for all systems. This creates personalized WNL findings that are tied to each user's ID. From any chart, live or test patient, click on Forms, select WNL Physical Exam, select the normal(s) desired for each system, then click Add WNL. Edits can also be done via the WNL Physical Exam Form to create those findings.

Previously nurse users had to select and highlight the chief complaint and then click the Add button to populate this field. Now, simply double click the chief complaint within triage to select your choice. Physician users can double click on a diagnosis to select or add multiple diagnoses.
FROM THE EDITOR Calling on his own experience as a Board Certified Emergency Medicine Physician, Dr. Mandry tasked a team of professionals to build a tool that would not only benefit physicians, nurses and patient care, but also ensure that management and facility needs were also met. His vision for an ED Electronic Medical Record has matured into an Emergency Department Information System that integrates the view of a patient's encounter from the chart to the whiteboard which allows everyone involved in the patient's care to make informed, coordinated and timely decisions.
CMR, the Complete Medical Record, is designed for Emergency Departments by Emergency physicians and nurses. We offer the most up to date record to meet all regulatory compliance for the Emergency Department. Our record is complete with forms, core measures, Rx writer, reporting, etc and offers the ability for all disciplines that interact with the Emergency Department to chart. User-friendly, CMR helps to create a health care culture that is both connected and comprehensive.
